As 2024 begins, we are thrilled to share that Ezzat Youssef Law Firm has successfully convinced an ICSID ad hoc committee to issue a decision annulling an ICSID award in its entirety. Coupled with the fact that ICSID awards are rarely annulled (the success rate of annulment proceedings before ad hoc committees does not exceed 2% of all annulment applications submitted to ICSID), what makes this decision even more special is that it is the first decision to ever annul an award issued pursuant to article 41 of the ICSID Convention.

While this decision attests Ezzat Youssef Law Firm’s deep understanding of the various sophisticated questions in international law and international investment arbitration, it also witnesses the quality, dedication and hard work put by every member of our team.

The team was led by Dr Ezzat Youssef, alongside Dina Hafez, Amira Abdelhamid, Hossam Ismail, and Abdelrahman Shata.

Ezzat Youssef Law Firm’s team was assisted by Oriane Marion (Law Office of Oriane Marion - Paris), and Alexandre Meyniel (Cartier Meyniel Schneller - Paris).

We would also like to thank Ramy Bassily (Lead up - Paris) for advising on strategic approaches followed in this annulment proceedings.

More information are to be shared once excerpts of award become publicly available. Until then, thanks and kudos to everyone who has worked on this case, and happy new year to all!
